The classroom buzzed with a nervous energy that tickled my whiskers. Today was the day. My tail gave a little thump, thump, thump against Sarina’s leg under the table. Usually, my tail only did that when a really good squirrel ran by or when Sarina produced the squeaky toy, but this was different. This was *mission* day. There were tables, colorful drawings on the walls, and a whole lot of small humans. Some of them wiggled with excitement. Others stared, their mouths making little ‘o’ shapes. I kept my tail still, my gaze steady on Sarina. She gave me a quiet nod, her eyes warm and encouraging. She knew how important this was.
