The edge of the familiar temple grounds gave way to a wall of emerald green, a living tapestry woven from countless leaves and vines. Obed, Elara, and Barnaby stood at its threshold, the air suddenly cooler, alive with the rustle of unseen creatures and the scent of damp earth and wild blossoms. This was the Whispering Woods, a place spoken of in hushed tones by the elders, a realm of ancient magic and forgotten paths.

“It’s… bigger than I imagined,” Obed breathed, his eyes wide with a mixture of awe and trepidation. The trees here were giants, their bark gnarled like the faces of old storytellers, their branches reaching for the sky as if to tickle the clouds. Sunlight dappled through the dense canopy, painting shifting patterns on the moss-covered ground.

Elara, ever the pragmatist, adjusted the strap of her satchel. “And probably full of things that don’t appreciate visitors,” she added with a grin, though her gaze swept over the dense undergrowth with a keen, appraising look. “But don’t worry, Obed. My grandmother taught me a thing or two about these woods.” She gestured to a barely visible trail winding between two massive oak trees. “This way. It’s a deer path, usually leads to a clearing.”
