Chapter 42
Episode 42
How did Amy's mother have the journal belonging to Sadies mother
Amy’s mother, a woman whose quiet demeanor belied a sharp intellect, held the worn leather journal with a reverence that spoke of a profound, almost sacred, connection. Hans watched her, a knot of unease tightening in his gut. He’d known Amy’s mother for years, a pillar of their small, close-knit community, always ready with a kind word and a home-baked pie. Shared everything.” A faint smile touched her lips, a ghost of happier times. “When she entrusted this to me, I promised I would keep it safe. I never imagined… I never thought it would come to this.”
Sadie’s breath hitched. Her mother, Anya. The woman she’d only known through faded photographs and fragmented stories. To see a tangible piece of her, a part of her inner world, held in the hands of someone so familiar, was disorienting. It was as if a missing puzzle piece had suddenly materialized, but its edges were sharp and unfamiliar.
