The air Sadies apartment crackled with an unspoken tension, a static hum that had been building for weeks. Moonlight, sharp and unforgiving, sliced through the blinds, striping the plush rug and the faces of the two men who stood at its center. Liam’s gaze, usually so open and trusting, was a battlefield of suspicion and hurt. Hans, for his part, looked like a man bracing for impact.
“You have to tell me, Hans Sadies voice was a low rumble, laced with a desperation that clawed at Hans’s gut. “Whatever it is, we can face it. But this… this silence is killing me.”
Hans swallowed, the sound loud in the suffocating quiet. He’d rehearsed this a thousand times, each scenario ending in a different shade of disaster. But the look in Liam’s eyes, the raw vulnerability, demanded the truth, no matter how devastating.
