Chapter 14
A Sudden Shift
With a final, disorienting lurch, Elara's entire being seems to unravel, every atom vibrating. Her consciousness is stretched thin across an infinite spectrum of perception, preparing for a momentous transition.
The world, as Elara knew it, began to fray at the edges. It wasn't a violent tearing, but a gentle unravelling, like a perfectly knitted scarf slowly coming undone stitch by stitch. One moment, she was kneeling in the damp, churned earth of the field, her fingers tingling from the contact with the otherworldly goo. The next, her perspective fractured, then multiplied, then exploded.
It started subtly. The faint, metallic tang of the asteroid’s essence seemed to seep into her very bones, and with it, a new way of seeing. She saw herself, Elara, kneeling in the mud. Then, a fraction of a second later, she saw herself from above, a small, determined figure against the vast, bruised twilight sky. Then, from the side, as if a silent observer walked parallel to her, a ghost in her own story. It was like having a thousand eyes, each seeing a slightly different angle, a slightly different moment.
This wasn't just seeing *things* from different angles; it was seeing *being* from different angles. Her own atoms, those tiny, buzzing particles that made up her arms, her legs, her racing heart, began to shimmer, to pulse with an inner light. She saw them not as solid, static things, but as a furious dance, a constant coming and going. She saw the space *between* the atoms, a vast, dark ocean teeming with unseen energy.
