The Elder’s tale had settled over Sunstone Village like a soft, velvet cloak, muffling the usual chirping of crickets and the rustle of leaves. Luna, curled by the hearth, felt its weight in her paws. Elder Whisperwind’s voice, usually a gentle breeze, had carried the thunder of ancient times, of prophecies whispered on starlight and a hero destined to rise from the shadows. He had spoken of the Celestial Dynasty, of a lineage as old as the amethyst moon itself, and of a lost artifact, the Jade Paw, the key to their kingdom’s light.

A strange hum vibrated deep within Luna’s chest, a feeling she couldn’t quite name. It wasn’t fear, not exactly, but a prickling awareness that the world was far larger, far more mysterious, than the sun-drenched meadows and babbling brooks of her village. The Elder had looked at her, his ancient eyes, the color of polished amber, seeming to pierce through her very fur. He hadn’t said her name, not directly, but the way his gaze lingered, the subtle tilt of his head, had sent a tremor through her.

“Do you truly believe such stories, Elder?” she had asked, her voice small, barely a squeak against the vastness of his words.
