Shadowclaw's Gambit
Shadowclaw, aware of Luna's progress, attempts to thwart her. He employs cunning traps and dark magic, forcing Luna and Jasper into a desperate confrontation.
The air in the Serpent's Pass had grown thick, heavy with a foreboding silence that pressed against Luna’s fur. Jasper walked beside her, his tail a question mark of unease. The rough, stony path, usually alive with the scuttling of lizards and the chirping of unseen insects, was unnervingly still. It was as if the very earth held its breath, anticipating a storm. Elder Whisperwind’s words echoed in Luna’s mind, a gentle but firm reminder of the dangers that lay ahead. "The path of prophecy is rarely smooth, young Luna. Shadows cling to those who seek the light."
Suddenly, a low growl rumbled from the rocky outcrops above. Jasper tensed, his hackles rising. “Did you hear that?” he whispered, his voice tight. Luna nodded, her heart thumping a frantic rhythm against her ribs. She scanned the towering cliffs, her gaze sharp. Nothing. Yet, the feeling of being watched was undeniable, a prickling sensation that crawled across her skin.
Then, it happened. The ground beneath them shifted. Not a tremor of an earthquake, but a deliberate, malevolent pull. Loose stones, dislodged from the cliff face, tumbled down, narrowly missing them. Jasper yelped, scrambling back, pulling Luna with him. “A trap!” he cried. “He knows we’re here!”
