Slowly and out of pure necessity, she began the quiet, vital work of learning how to hold and soothe herself. When reassurance never came, when arms remained empty, and when the voices she waited for stayed silent or turned away — she had no choice but to turn inward and become her own safest refuge. Little by little, she discovered that strength and solace were not gifts she had to beg from others, but things she could grow within. She learned to press her own hands gently over an aching chest, to speak soft words of kindness she had rarely heard from anyone else, and to wrap her own spirit in care when no one stepped forward to do it for her. At first it felt like a poor substitute — but in time it became something far more precious: unshakable self‑reliance. She realized that while outside support may vanish or fail, the comfort she gives herself remains always present, steady, and true. In the end, she learned one of life’s hardest yet most necessary lessons: when you become capable of tending to your own heart, you never truly stand alone again.
