This was the central hub, a nexus of energy so vast it defied comprehension, a place whispered about in hushed tones even by those who worked within the Current’s glittering towers. Now, it was their target.

Kael’s voice, usually a steady beacon, was taut with a dangerous excitement. “This is it, Elara. The brain. The nervous system. If we can disrupt the primary flow here, we cripple the entire grid, at least for a time.” He gestured to a holographic schematic that pulsed with a dizzying array of interconnected nodes. Elara’s eyes traced the intricate pathways, a jolt of recognition, almost instinctual, running through her. It wasn’t just lines and points; it was a living, breathing entity, and she felt a strange kinship with its complexity.

“The security protocols are… formidable,” Jax’s voice crackled from a comm unit embedded in Kael’s wrist. They had managed to secure a temporary backdoor into the hub’s external surveillance, a feat that had taken weeks of relentless hacking. “More layers than an ancient onion. Seraphina’s paranoia is practically a physical force down here.”
