The worn parchment, now a familiar companion, unfurled its mysteries once more. Amina traced a faded line with her fingertip, a line that snaked upwards, towards the jagged peaks that kissed the horizon. “It says… ‘where the clouds rest their heads’,” she murmured, her brow furrowed in concentration. Kato, ever eager, bounced on the balls of his feet. “Highlands! We’re going to the highlands!” he exclaimed, his voice brimming with excitement.
Amina smiled, but a flicker of apprehension crossed her face. The highlands. She knew them from tales, vast expanses of rolling hills that eventually swelled into formidable mountains, their summits often shrouded in mist. It was a journey that would test their resolve, and perhaps, more than just their resolve.
