Seraphina Dubois, her composure finally fractured by the weight of undeniable evidence, sat across from him, her eyes, once sharp and calculating, now dulled with defeat. Detective Harding, looking more weary than triumphant, had just finished the final pronouncements, his voice a low rumble that seemed to absorb the room’s tension.

Henry watched Dubois, not with the burning hatred that had fueled him for so long, but with a strange, detached pity. He saw the elaborate facade crumble, revealing the fear that had driven her actions, the desperate grasp for control that had led to such destruction. It wasn’t the grand, terrifying villain he’d imagined, but a woman cornered by her own avarice and the dangerous secrets she’d nurtured. The raven, it seemed, had finally lost its grip.

“It’s over, then,” Harding said, his gaze flicking between Henry and Dubois. He ran a hand over his stubbled chin. “The evidence is conclusive. The money laundering, the coercion, and yes, the… facilitating of the murder. It all points to you, Ms. Dubois.”
