Alan returns the puppies to a tearfully relieved Mrs. Higgins. The farm is filled with happy yips and grateful hugs. The mystery is solved, bringing immense joy to all involved.

The late afternoon sun cast long, golden shadows across Mrs. Higgins’ rolling green fields as Alan approached the farmhouse, a small, contented bundle of wriggling fur cradled gently in his arms. Behind him, a small procession of equally joyful, albeit slightly mud-splattered, puppies trotted along, their tails wagging with an infectious enthusiasm that seemed to brighten the very air around them. The triumphant chorus of happy yips and excited barks filled the quiet countryside, a symphony of relief and pure, unadulterated joy.

As Alan neared the porch, the front door burst open, and Mrs. Higgins, her face etched with a mixture of hopeful anticipation and lingering anxiety, practically tumbled out. Her eyes, still red-rimmed from her earlier distress, widened, and a gasp escaped her lips. Then, like a dam breaking, the tears began to flow again, but this time, they were tears of profound happiness.

“Oh, Alan! My darlings!” she cried, her voice thick with emotion. She rushed forward, her arms outstretched, and Alan carefully handed the closest puppy, a little bundle of black and white fluff, into her waiting embrace. The puppy, recognizing its beloved owner, immediately began to lick her face with frantic, loving devotion.
