The goblins attempt to trick the children into a trap, but Elmsworth's wisdom and Lumina's light expose their deceit, turning the tables on the mischievous foes.

The air in the Whispering Woods grew heavy, thick with the scent of damp earth and the subtle, unsettling aroma of something small and sly. Lily, her hand instinctively reaching for Tom’s, felt a prickle of unease crawl up her spine. Ahead, Elmsworth, his long beard flowing like a silver river, stopped, holding up a gnarled hand. Maya and Sam, their faces etched with a mixture of fatigue and apprehension, huddled closer.

“Hush, little ones,” Elmsworth murmured, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very roots of the ancient trees. “Something approaches. Something… greedy.”

From the tangled undergrowth, a chorus of cackles erupted, high-pitched and grating, like stones being dragged across a chalkboard. Tiny, hunched figures with pointed ears and beady eyes began to emerge, their movements jerky and uncoordinated. Goblins. They clutched crude, sharpened sticks and wore grins that promised mischief, not mirth.
