The air in the Prime Number Passages hummed with a peculiar energy, a low thrum that vibrated not just in Pip’s pointy ears, but deep within their very core. It was a labyrinth of sorts, not built of stone or wood, but of pure mathematical concept. Each corridor, each branching path, was defined by the indivisible nature of prime numbers. Here, numbers like 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, and so on, held dominion, their unique properties dictating the very structure of the maze.

“Remarkable, isn’t it, Pip?” Professor Sum’s voice was a low murmur, a comforting counterpoint to the strange resonance of the passages. Only the numbers that cannot be divided by any other number, save themselves and one, can form the pathways here.”

Pip nodded, eyes wide with a mixture of awe and apprehension. The map, now a crumpled but well-loved companion, offered little in the way of explicit direction through this particular section. It showed a general trajectory, a jagged line leading towards the Crystal Caves, but the intricacies of the Prime Number Passages were beyond its simple markings. “It’s… confusing, Professor. It feels like every turn leads to another identical turn.”
