Ashe makes his move, using deceit and intimidation to corner Kyara. He senses her power and seeks to either control it or extinguish it, unaware of its true source.

The air in Kyara’s small apartment hung thick with the scent of stale coffee and a simmering unease. Rain lashed against the windowpanes, mirroring the tempest brewing within her. Since the incident at the old warehouse, the mark on her shoulder had throbbed with an unfamiliar intensity, a constant, burning reminder of the power she couldn't comprehend. Jey had been unusually quiet, his dark eyes holding a depth of concern that spoke volumes. He’d stayed the night, a silent sentinel, and the comfort of his presence had been a fragile shield against the encroaching shadows.

A sharp rap at the door shattered the morning quiet. Kyara’s heart leaped into her throat. Jey was already on his feet, moving with a predator’s grace towards the door, his hand instinctively going to the concealed weapon beneath his jacket. Kyara pushed herself up from the worn sofa, her own senses on high alert. The mark pulsed, a subtle warning.

“Who is it?” Jey’s voice was a low growl.
