The biting wind whipped at Kael's cloak, each gust a playful, icy slap against his cheek. He shivered, not entirely from the cold, but from the sheer, overwhelming stillness of this place. They stood at the edge of a vast, frozen plateau, the landscape stretching out before them like a crumpled sheet of diamond-dusted parchment. The air itself seemed to hum with an ancient power, a silent song that resonated deep within his bones. Elara, her breath misting in the frigid air, pointed a gloved finger towards a cluster of jagged ice formations that rose like petrified giants from the frozen earth.
“The map mentioned ‘the teeth of the serpent’,” she murmured, her voice barely a whisper against the wind’s howl. “This must be it.”
Finn, ever the pragmatist, adjusted the sturdy pack on his shoulders. “Looks more like a pile of angry icicles to me. Are you sure those markings were clear enough, Kael?”
