Elara, Finn, and Kael stood at the edge of a vast, frozen lake, their breath catching in their throats, their eyes wide with a mixture of awe and a tremor of fear. The trials had been arduous, the doubts they had wrestled with had felt insurmountable, and the shadow had pressed ever closer, but here, on this desolate, shimmering plain, they felt a profound sense of arrival.

“It’s… it’s real,” Kael whispered, his usual witty banter silenced, replaced by a reverence that suited the moment. He reached out a hand, as if to touch the pulsating light overhead, then quickly drew it back, a small smile playing on his lips.
