Commander Valerius surveyed the city from the observation deck of his obsidian tower, the harsh, sterile white of the Neo-Yellow regime stretching out beneath him like a freshly bleached canvas. His aura, a sharp, unyielding yellow, pulsed with a controlled, almost brittle intensity. Below, the citizens moved with a practiced, placid rhythm, their auras muted, their thoughts carefully curated. It was a world of order, of predictable hues, a world he had helped to forge. Yet, a whisper, a flicker of something out of place, had reached his ears. Elara. The name tasted like grit on his tongue. Amber. A color that had once signified passion, creativity, the very spark of life, now relegated to the shadows, a sign of deviance, of chaos.

His datapad buzzed, displaying a series of scanned anomalies. One, in particular, caught his attention – a faint, erratic energy signature detected near the old abandoned sector, the place where the forgotten had been banished. It was too erratic, too *uncontrolled*, to be a standard citizen’s aura. It pulsed with a wild, untamed energy, like a trapped bird beating its wings against a cage. The chronometer readings from the vicinity were also peculiar, showing minute temporal distortions, glitches in the fabric of time itself. His gut, a place he rarely trusted but often obeyed, tightened. This was no ordinary deviation. This was something that threatened the very foundation of their meticulously constructed reality.

Valerius’s yellow aura flared, a stark contrast to the cool, controlled glow of the tower’s interior. He recalled the day the classification of auras had been solidified, the day amber had been deemed dangerous. He remembered the fear, the palpable unease that had rippled through the populace, a fear he had expertly channeled and amplified. He had seen, firsthand, the devastating power of unchecked emotion. A memory, sharp and unwelcome, pierced through his carefully constructed defenses. A child, screaming, inconsolable, a storm of raw, untamed feeling that had shattered everything. He pushed it back, burying it deeper. Such things were a weakness, a flaw. And flaws had no place in their world.
