Captain Eva Rostova stood rigid, her arms crossed, her gaze fixed on a crumpled piece of paper spread across a makeshift table. Sergeant Marcus Bellweather, his face etched with a weariness that went beyond mere fatigue, hovered nearby, his eyes darting between Eva and the document. “It’s undeniable,” Eva’s voice was a low, dangerous rasp, devoid of its usual sharp command. “Every patrol route, every planned raid, every piece of intel we’ve gathered about their feeding grounds… it’s all been compromised.” She gestured to the paper, a crudely drawn map marked with red Xs. “This was supposed to be our trap for the Blood Moon coven. They were waiting for us. Ambush. We lost two good people, Jennifer.”
