Now, in the quiet aftermath, Eleanor felt a peculiar sort of calm, the kind that settles after a tempest, sharp and crystalline.

She turned the page, her movements deliberate, as if not to disturb the fragile stillness. The atlas lay open to a section she hadn't explored with much focus before – a cluster of islands, each one a tiny emerald smudge against an ocean of deep, bruised blue. The names were lyrical, evocative: the Isle of Sighs, Serpent’s Tooth Atoll, the Archipelago of Whispers. Her breath caught, a familiar tremor running through her.
