The old carousel stood like a silent sentinel, its painted horses frozen mid-gallop, their once-vibrant hues muted by decades of sun and rain. The air here, in the forgotten corner of the park, carried the ghost of laughter, the faint, sweet tang of popcorn, and the melancholic whisper of music that no longer played. Eleanor stood at the rusted gate, her gloved hand trembling as she pushed it open. It groaned a protest, a sound that echoed the creak of her own joints. This was it. She stepped onto the cracked asphalt, each footfall a deliberate act of courage. The park itself was a shadow of its former glory, a testament to changing times and shifting priorities.
