The chill that had once seeped into Elara’s bones, a constant companion born of the Shadow Man’s presence, began to recede. It wasn’t a sudden thaw, but a slow, almost imperceptible easing, like ice melting under a hesitant sun. She stood in the heart of the dreamscape, the swirling, chaotic landscape that had been her prison, and for the first time, she didn’t feel the urge to flee. Instead, a strange calm settled over her. The Shadow Man, a looming silhouette of her deepest anxieties, coalesced before her. He was not a monster to be slain, she finally understood, but a mirror, reflecting back the parts of herself she had desperately tried to ignore.
He was a tapestry woven from threads of her own making: the gnawing fear of inadequacy, the paralyzing dread of loss, the crushing weight of past failures.
