Now, the colours were starting to bleed, vibrant and startling, and Elara, for the first time, felt the urge to pick up the needle herself.
The worn leather journal lay open on her kitchen table, its pages a stark, beckoning white. It had been Agnes’s suggestion, delivered with that characteristic quiet wisdom that Elara had always found both comforting and slightly unnerving. “Sometimes, Elara,” Agnes had said, her eyes crinkling at the corners, “the stories we tell ourselves are the ones that hold us captive. Perhaps it’s time to write a different one.”
