The Shadow of Doubt
Lyra grapples with her impulsiveness, feeling overshadowed by Elara's intellect. Elara, in turn, fears her magic is too peculiar to ever truly be useful, a secret worry she harbors.
Lyra stumbled, her foot catching on a root that seemed to have materialized out of thin air, just as Elara had warned it might. The basket of foraged berries, already precariously balanced, tipped, sending a cascade of crimson and azure tumbling into the damp forest floor. “Blast it all!” she yelped, flailing an arm to catch them, which only succeeded in knocking a few more precious fruits into the moss.
