Chapter 4
The Stolen Pearl
The dolphin explains that a mischievous sea otter has taken the mermaid's precious pearl. Without it, the ocean is in chaos, with tides behaving strangely. Lily agrees to help find it.
The dolphin, whose name was Finny, nudged Lily gently with his smooth, grey head. Finny let out a sad sigh, a stream of tiny bubbles escaping his blowhole. “It was stolen. A few days ago, just before the tide went completely haywire. A mischievous sea otter, they say. He’s known for his playful, sometimes troublesome, nature. But this is more than just mischief, Lily. Without the pearl, the ocean is… unbalanced.”
