The scent of damp earth and decay clung to Elara like a second skin. It was a familiar perfume now, one that permeated her waking hours as much as her dreams. Chapter 8 had ended with her fleeing through a labyrinth of shifting corridors, the spectral whispers of the forgotten clinging to her heels. Now, she found herself in a vast, echoing chamber, the air thick with an unnerving stillness. Moonlight, fractured and distorted, spilled through unseen openings high above, painting the stone floor with shifting patterns of silver and black.
