The Rebel's Scar
Arthur meets Kael, a fierce rebel leader. Kael is initially wary of Arthur, his distrust stemming from the loss of his family to the dragons' cruelty.
The air in the hidden glade hung thick with the scent of damp earth and something wild, something untamed. Arthur, still a little unsteady on his feet after his recent elemental awakening, followed Elder Elara through a curtain of moss-laden branches. He felt a prickle of anticipation, a nervous flutter that had become a constant companion since arriving in this land of scales and fire. Elara had spoken of a meeting, a crucial one, with a leader of those who dared to resist the dragons’ iron grip. Arthur knew this was a vital step, but the thought of meeting someone who had likely endured more than he could comprehend filled him with a quiet dread.
They emerged into a clearing bathed in the dappled sunlight filtering through the ancient canopy. At its center, tending to a small, sputtering fire, was a man whose presence seemed to ripple with contained energy. He was lean, his movements sharp and economical, and his eyes, when they lifted to meet Arthur’s, were the color of a stormy sea, sharp and assessing. Scars, pale against his tanned skin, traced a map of past battles across his face and arms. This, Arthur surmised, must be Kael.
“Elara,” the man acknowledged, his voice a low rumble, devoid of warmth. He didn't rise, his gaze fixed on Arthur, dissecting him with an unnerving intensity. “You bring a stranger.”
