The chill of the Parisian night bit at my exposed skin, a stark contrast to the feverish heat that coiled in my gut. Silas had given me an address, a place whispered rather than written, a derelict warehouse on the forgotten fringes of the city, a place where the ghosts of industry still lingered. It felt like stepping into a forgotten dream, or perhaps a nightmare. Moonlight, fractured by grime-streaked panes, painted stripes across the cavernous space. Dust motes, thick as a summer fog, danced in the spectral beams. The air was heavy with the scent of damp concrete, old oil, and something else… something wild and organic, like crushed leaves and rain-soaked earth.

Silas stood silhouetted against a distant window, a familiar, almost spectral figure. He didn't greet me with words, just a nod of his head, a gesture that acknowledged my arrival and my readiness. I clutched the worn canvas bag he’d given me, its contents a mystery that both thrilled and terrified me. Inside, I imagined, were the tools of his unconventional trade, the implements of a rebellion against the polished, curated world I’d so desperately tried to navigate.

"Tonight," Silas's voice was a low rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very bones of the building, "we paint with the shadows. We sculpt with the silence. We become the city's forgotten pulse."
