The worn leather of the diary felt strangely familiar in Elara’s hands, like a well-loved book she’d known her whole life. It was filled with the elegant, looping script of her great-great-grandmother, a woman Elara had only ever known through faded photographs and hushed family stories. But now, here she was, pouring her heart out onto these pages, and Elara was listening. The flickering lamplight cast dancing shadows across the room, making the words on the page seem to shimmer with a life of their own.

It thrives in the cracks, the moments of disarray, the frayed edges of time.”

Elara traced the words with a fingertip, a shiver running down her spine. The Weaver. It sounded so much more menacing than the vague ‘shadowy figure’ she’d been seeing. The diary explained that the Weaver didn’t simply jump through time; it *unravelled* it. It fed on the chaos that arose when timelines became tangled, when the past bled into the present, or when the future became uncertain.
