The air itself seemed to hum with a tension I’d never felt before, a static charge that prickled my skin and made the hairs on my arms stand on end. Before me, bathed in the eerie, flickering light of torches that seemed to burn with an unnatural darkness, stood Silas Vane. His face, usually a mask of cold calculation, was contorted with a hunger I recognized—the hunger for control, for power. He was everything I had been running from, the embodiment of the shadows that sought to twist the threads of fate into their own grim design.

"So, the little weaver finally shows her face," Vane’s voice slithered through the cavern, each word dripping with a venom that made my stomach clench. He took a step forward, his obsidian-ringed hand outstretched, as if he expected me to simply walk into it. "You have caused us a great deal of trouble, child. But your defiance ends now."

My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the ominous silence of the cavern. I could feel the eyes of his Obsidian Hand goons on me, a suffocating wave of anticipation. They expected me to cower, to surrender. But they didn't understand. They didn't understand me, or the power that surged through me, a river of starlight and destiny.
