Sergos, aided by Lilarav, sets a cunning trap for Aria . They exploit her empathy and desire for peace, drawing her into a dangerous confrontation. Aria must use her wit and burgeoning power to escape.
The air in the ancient forest was thick with the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves, a symphony of nature’s slow surrender. Anya, her tangerine hair a vibrant streak against the muted greens and browns, paused, her mismatched eyes – one the warm hue of a sunrise, the other a stark, milky white – scanning the dense undergrowth. A shiver, not entirely from the chill that clung to the shaded glades, traced its way down her spine. Something felt wrong, a discordant note in the otherwise harmonious hum of the woods.
“Are you certain this is the way, Eran?” she asked, her voice a low murmur that barely disturbed the quiet. Her tail gave a nervous twitch, a subtle betraying of her unease.
Eran, his rabbit ears perked and twitching independently, hopped a little closer, his pink eyes wide with a mixture of apprehension and forced confidence. “The map indicates this path leads to the Whispering Falls. It’s said to be a place of… profound clarity, Anya. A place where lost things are found.” He adjusted the spectacles perched on his nose, his small frame seeming to shrink further into his fur. “Besides, it’s the only route that doesn’t lead through the Shadow Weaver’s known territories.”
