Elara’s breath hitched, a ragged sound lost in the inferno that consumed her village. Smoke, thick and acrid, stung her eyes, blurring the once familiar thatched roofs into a molten landscape. Panic, cold and sharp, clawed at her throat, but beneath it pulsed a fierce, protective terror for her family, for her home.
