The forest floor, once a vibrant tapestry of emerald moss and fallen leaves, now bore the scorched scars of the Shadow Maw’s passage. Charred stumps stood like blackened sentinels, and the air, thick with the lingering stench of brimstone, hummed with a disquieting silence. Boy, however, wasn’t here for a nature walk. He was here for a rematch, and this time, he’d brought his A-game, his B-game, and a rather flamboyant C-game involving a rubber chicken.

He adjusted the strap of his newly forged ‘Aegis of Annoyance’ – a shield that, when struck, emitted a high-pitched, ear-splitting squawk. Professor Eldrin had initially protested, muttering something about “undignified cacophony” and “sacrificing tactical advantage for pure, unadulterated irritation.” Boy had simply shrugged, conjuring a tiny, perfectly formed cloud that rained miniature, harmless marshmallows onto the Professor’s head. Eldrin, with a sigh that seemed to carry the weight of a thousand overdue assignments, had relented.

Beside him trotted a familiar, albeit slightly disgruntled, figure. Grumble, his brows perpetually furrowed in a display of deep-seated resentment, kicked a loose stone with unnecessary force. “This is madness, Boy. Utter madness. Going back there, alone, after it nearly… well, you know.” He shuddered, though whether it was from genuine fear or the sheer inconvenience of the situation was debatable.
