Elara traced the velvety petals of the night bloom, its indigo hue deepening under the sliver of moon that peeked through her window. The scent, a heady mix of jasmine and something wilder, something ancient, filled her small room, a promise of the peace she so desperately craved. Chapter six. The Price of Peace. The title itself felt like a whisper of warning, a shadow cast by the radiant glow of the bloom. But the exhaustion, a dull ache that had become her constant companion, gnawed at her resolve. She had to try.

She plucked a single, dew-kissed petal, its coolness a stark contrast to the warmth of her trembling fingers. The taste was surprisingly sweet, like honey mixed with starlight, and a gentle wave of drowsiness washed over her almost immediately. It was different this time, softer than the jarring pull of the first few nights. It felt like sinking into a warm bath, each limb growing heavy, each thought dissolving into a pleasant haze.

As she drifted, the familiar landscapes of her dreamscape began to form, but with a peculiar clarity. The whispering woods, usually a tangled mess of shadows and half-formed fears, now seemed more defined, the ancient trees standing tall and proud. The path, usually obscured, stretched out before her, illuminated by an ethereal glow. It was a beautiful sight, a tranquil haven where the monsters of her waking hours held no sway.
