Chapter 4
The Guardian of Slumber
Elara tiptoed through the moon-drenched garden, the air thick with the perfume of night-blooming jasmine. Her heart thumped a nervous rhythm against her ribs, a familiar companion to the quiet hours. They were large, luminous, and held an ancient, knowing gaze. The creature that emerged was unlike anything Elara had ever imagined. It was sleek and feline, yet its fur shimmered with the iridescence of a thousand captured stars. Delicate, gossamer wings, veined with moonlight, unfurled from its shoulders, catching the faint light and casting ethereal patterns on the dewy grass. It moved with a silent grace, its paws barely disturbing the fallen petals.
