Episode 9

The afternoon sun, a brazen intruder, sliced through the thick curtains of the bedroom, attempting to dispel the lingering tension in the air. But for Ton and Mae Phuang, it only served to amplify the raw, potent feelings unleashed the night before.

Ton tossed and turned on the soft mattress, the images from the previous night a persistent loop in his mind. Mae Phuang’s flushed face, her trembling eyes, her hands that shook but held him tight as if afraid he might vanish. The soft moans that had escaped her full lips still echoed in his ears. He glanced at the empty space beside him. Mae Phuang must have gone about her morning chores, or perhaps she was wrestling with the enormity of what had transpired between them. A blush heated Ton’s cheeks. He’d never imagined the feelings he’d harbored for so long would culminate in this.

The gentle creak of the kitchen door announced Mae Phuang’s presence. Ton sat up abruptly, his gaze fixed on her back as she moved about, clad in a faded apron. The fragrant aroma of rice porridge wafted into the room, a stark reminder of his rumbling stomach. “Mae…” Ton’s voice was a rough whisper, uncertain if she’d heard him.
