Beside her, Tom, his brow furrowed in concentration, painstakingly stacked brightly colored blocks into an impossibly tall tower. Across the lawn, Alex Davis, his usual anxious fidgeting replaced by a quiet focus, was carefully helping Emily draw chalk outlines of fantastical creatures on the patio.

Sarah Miller watched from her porch swing, a gentle smile gracing her lips. Mark leaned against the railing, a contented sigh escaping him. The air was filled with the sweet symphony of children at play – not the boisterous, competitive kind, but a harmonious blend of shared laughter and cooperative whispers. It was a sound that had, not so long ago, felt like a distant dream.

“Look, Mom!” Emily called, holding up a drawing of a winged unicorn. “Alex helped me make its horn extra sparkly!”
