Chapter 5
A Chair's Burden
Kabuye, the wise chairperson, navigates the rising tide of discord. He seeks to bridge the growing chasm, his deep respect for tradition clashing with the disruptive force of new ideologies.
The morning sun, usually a comforting balm on Nansana’s dusty streets, seemed to cast a pallid, anxious light. From his modest dwelling, Kabuye could hear the murmur of the town, a sound that had shifted from the cheerful bustle of a thriving community to a low, uneasy hum. The promises of progress, of efficiency, of a Nansana that would finally shed its perceived backwardness and stand tall on the global stage. Kabuye, a custodian of Nansana’s traditions, had listened with a mixture of hope and apprehension. He understood the yearning for betterment, but he also carried within him the deep-seated wisdom of generations, a caution born from witnessing cycles of change and their often-unforeseen consequences. He’d seen leaders come and go, promising the moon and delivering only dust.
