Max's Protective Instincts
When a shadow falls over them, Max instinctively shields his friends, his bravery shining through even as he grapples with the unknown dangers of the park.
The world was a tapestry of greens and browns, a colossal, untamed wilderness that had once been their familiar town park. Now, it was a labyrinth of towering blades of grass, a forest of colossal dandelions, and a sky that seemed impossibly, terrifyingly vast. Max, his heart a frantic drum against his ribs, scanned their surroundings. The SCA.B 2K gauntlet on his arm pulsed with a soft, reassuring glow, displaying their dwindling water supply and the ever-present, albeit incomprehensible, park map.
“Anything?” Hoops’s voice, usually a boisterous clarion call, was now a hushed whisper, tinged with an anxiety that mirrored his own. She nudged a fallen leaf with her boot, the sheer scale of it making it look like a discarded sail.
Max shook his head, his gaze sweeping across the undulating terrain. “Nothing but more… park. It’s like we’re trapped in a giant diorama.” The thought sent a shiver down his spine, a faint echo of the claustrophobia that had begun to prickle at the edges of his mind. He pushed it down. Now was not the time to dwell on his own fears.
