The gravel crunched under the tires of my truck, a familiar sound that usually brought a sense of calm. Today, it felt like an angry drumbeat, echoing the rhythm of my own racing heart. Beside me, Shania’s knuckles were white where she gripped the dashboard, her jaw set tight. She was thinking about Braiden, about the messy fallout from our ill-fated matchmaking scheme, about how everything had splintered.
