Obed confides in his loyal friends, Elara and Barnaby, about the map and the artifact. They readily pledge their help, their shared excitement for adventure outweighing any apprehension.
The afternoon sun, usually a comforting presence filtering through the high temple windows, felt almost too bright for Obed’s anxious heart. He’d spent the morning poring over the map, tracing the faded ink with a finger that trembled slightly. The legend of the Sunstone, whispered about in hushed tones by the elders, now felt thrillingly real, a tangible possibility tucked away in his satchel. He knew, with a certainty that settled deep in his bones, that he couldn’t embark on this journey alone.
He found Elara by the bubbling stream that snaked its way through the temple gardens, her fingers deftly weaving wildflowers into a crown. Her brow was furrowed in concentration, a stray curl of dark hair escaping her braid to tickle her cheek. Barnaby, ever the watchful guardian, sat a little distance away, sharpening his hunting knife with a steady, rhythmic scrape.
“Elara?” Obed’s voice was a little rough, and he cleared his throat.
