It was a sound I’d never heard before, yet it felt as familiar as my own heartbeat. Professor Hoot, perched on a jagged outcrop, adjusted his spectacles, his usual flutter of eccentricity replaced by a focused intensity. “Remarkable, Tom! Truly remarkable!” he hooted, his voice a blend of awe and urgency. “You’re not just communicating with the magic, my boy, you’re *amplifying* it!”
Amplifying it. The words echoed in my mind, a strange resonance with the hum that pulsed through me.
