Chapter 12
The Guardian of the Grove
In the woods, Elara encounters an old, gnarled tree that seems to hold the village's history. She finds more knitted artifacts tangled in its roots, symbols of a pact or a warning.
The Whispering Woods had always held a hushed reverence for Elara, a place where sunlight dappled through ancient leaves like spilled gold and the air hummed with secrets older than memory. She followed the faint trail, a path barely there, guided by an instinct that felt as old as the moss clinging to the forest floor. It was a tree unlike any other. Its trunk, thick and gnarled like an ancient hand, twisted towards the sky, its bark a tapestry of deep grooves and mossy patches. Its roots, exposed and tangled, snaked out from the earth like grasping fingers, drawing sustenance from the very heart of the woods. There was an undeniable aura about it, a sense of deep, quiet power. This, Elara knew with a certainty that settled deep in her bones, was the Guardian of the Grove.
