Chapter 13
The Digital Labyrinth
The Serpent's Coil operates through a sophisticated network of shell corporations and digital fronts. Elias and Isabelle must navigate this complex web to find concrete proof of their manipulation.
The glow of the monitor painted Elias’s face in a cool, blue light. Outside, the city hummed with its usual nocturnal rhythm, a symphony of distant sirens and the rumble of late-night traffic, but inside Elias’s cramped apartment, the only sound was the frantic tap-tap-tapping of his keyboard. Isabelle sat beside him, her brow furrowed in concentration, her fingers dancing across her own laptop with a speed that still managed to impress him. Elias nodded, his gaze fixed on a complex flowchart he’d managed to piece together. It was a spiderweb of companies, each one seemingly legitimate, yet all tracing back to a central, elusive node. “They’ve built this system over centuries, Isabelle. It’s not just about hiding money; it’s about hiding their influence. They’ve woven themselves into the very fabric of global finance so deeply, it’s almost impossible to see where they end and the legitimate market begins.”
