The air in the cavern, once thick with the Lumina Steed’s ethereal glow, now felt thin and brittle. The celestial light, so recently a beacon of hope, seemed to recede with each passing breath, leaving behind an unsettling chill that had nothing to do with the biting winds outside. Elara, her heart still thrumming with the residual magic of their encounter, watched as the spectral horse’s radiant form began to shimmer, not with the vibrant hues of the aurora, but with a fading, almost transparent quality. Kael stood beside her, his brow furrowed in concentration, tracing ancient symbols on a smooth, dark stone.
Finn, however, was not beside them. He was a few paces back, his usual easy grin replaced by a tight-lipped tension. He kept glancing around the cavern, his eyes darting from the dwindling luminescence of the steed to the shadowed recesses of their temporary shelter. A nervous energy pulsed from him, a stark contrast to the quiet awe that had settled over Elara and Kael.
“Finn?” Elara’s voice was soft, laced with concern. “Are you alright?”
