She moved with a languid grace, her gown of sapphire silk shimmering like a captured piece of the night sky, the diamonds at her throat catching the candlelight and flinging tiny rainbows across the polished parquet. Louis, who had been idly tracing the rim of his wine goblet, looked up, his gaze immediately arrested.
