The air in Master Lorien’s study, usually thick with the scent of aged parchment and dried herbs, felt heavy and charged, like the moments before a storm breaks. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of moonlight piercing the gloom, illuminating the tension etched onto Elara’s face. She stood before him, her hands clenched at her sides, the accusation in her voice barely a whisper, yet it seemed to echo in the cavernous space.

“You know more,” she stated, the words a simple, undeniable fact. “You’ve *always* known more. About the whispers, about my dreams… about what they mean.”

Lorien sat behind his imposing oak desk, his hands steepled, his gaze fixed on some point beyond her shoulder, as if studying a constellation only he could see. His usual calm demeanor was fractured, a subtle tremor in the set of his jaw, a flicker in the depths of his ancient eyes. He didn’t deny it. He never truly denied anything, not in a way that satisfied her gnawing need for clarity. But this time, the silence was more telling than any evasion.
