The air in the grand Obroye library was thick with an almost tangible tension. Dust motes danced in the slivers of sunlight that pierced the heavy velvet curtains, illuminating the faces of the Obroye brothers, their expressions a tableau of grave concern. The “first clue,” as it had been so innocently labeled, had spiraled into something far more significant. A faded photograph, unearthed from a forgotten corner of the Malhotra estate, depicted a woman with striking resemblances to Natasha, holding a baby – a baby whose eyes, even in the grainy image, held an uncanny familiarity.
“This is more than just a resemblance, Anya,” the eldest brother, Vikram, stated, his voice a low growl that echoed the unease in the room. He tapped a manicured finger on the photograph. “The birthmark. It’s identical.”
Anya, the sharp legal mind of the family, leaned closer, her brow furrowed. “And the inscription on the back. ‘My little star, born under the Obroye moon.’ This… this changes everything.” She gestured towards the second Obroye brother, Arjun, who had been meticulously examining the photograph with a magnifying glass.
