Natasha, her brow furrowed, traced the intricate lines of the crest. It wasn't the ornate, familiar emblem of the Malhotras, nor did it resemble the sleek, modern logo of the Desais. It was something older, more regal, and utterly foreign. The locket had been discovered during a casual re-organization of her wardrobe, a task she’d undertaken more out of a desire for order than any premonition. Now, order felt like a distant memory.

Anu, ever perceptive, had noticed Natasha’s preoccupation. They were sitting in the sun-drenched conservatory, the scent of jasmine heavy in the air. Anu, her fingers deftly weaving a complex pattern on a piece of embroidery, watched Natasha’s restless movements. "You seem troubled, Nats," she said softly, her voice a gentle melody.
