It showed a younger Mrs. Malhotra, radiant and, inexplicably, with a baby swaddled in her arms. A baby who bore a striking resemblance to the infant Natasha had been.

"This… this is impossible," Mrs. Malhotra murmured, her voice barely a breath. "This cannot be."

Natasha’s heart hammered against her ribs. The whispers, the rumors, the growing unease – it was all coalescing into a terrifying, undeniable truth. "Mother," she began, her voice steadier than she expected, "what is this journal? Whose handwriting is this?"
